Berge
Niederhorn
Nowhere is the panorama above Lake Thun – with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau – more beautiful to experience. By scooter or on foot on an alpine orientation hike ─ you can enjoy the wonderful panorama of the lake and the mountains wherever you are on over 120 km of hiking and mountain trails.
Niesen
Experience a spectacular 30-minute funicular ride. The maximum gradient is between 66% and 68%. Of course, you can also tackle the ascent on foot. The viewing platform (2362 m) offers a fantastic 360° panorama view of the surrounding area.
Stockhorn
The Stockhorn summit, at 2190 above sea level, can be reached by cable car in just 20 minutes. Here you can connect with nature, be it during a walk, a mountain hike or while fishing at the two mountain lakes.
Jungfrau region
Experience the Jungfrau region, where the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau form the world-famous summit panorama. There are numerous hiking trails and other activities to choose from. The Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe – is one of the most popular destinations in Europe.

Beatenberg
In addition to varied hikes with spectacular panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, Beatenberg offers a wide range of recreational activities in magnificent natural surroundings.
Blueme-Heiligenschwendi
The Blueme, high above Lake Thun, is a popular hiking destination. From the tower (16m high) you have a wonderful view of the Bernese Alps and of the hilly Emmental landscape all the way to the Bernese Jura.
Eriztal
An exciting hiking area amidst enchanting vegetation and can be found in the Eriz Valley. The intact Rotmoos moorland is unique.
Habkern
This pretty little mountain village is nestled between the Harder and the Sieben Hengsten (Seven Stallions) at the foot of the Augstmatthorn. Choose from numerous hikes. The magnificent moorland around Lombachalp is a special treat.
Diemtigtal Nature Park
With its cultural treasures and landscape, the Diemtigtal Nature Park is ideal for active excursions. Theme trails lead past pretty wooden houses to the green Alps.
Justistal
The Justistal, known for its “Chästeilet” (cheese sharing), lies above Lake Thun and offers a wide variety of hiking and mountain biking opportunities. The municipality of Oberhofen has been the owner of Sömmerungsalp, Oberhofnerberg, since the middle of the eighteenth century.
Gantrisch Nature Park
The Gantrisch Nature Park is home to a large number of culturally and historically valuable landmarks such as the castles in the Gürbetal, the baths in the Gurnigel area, the pilgrimage route of St. James with the Rüeggisberg monastery, and the numerous bridges in the Sense and Schwarzsee areas.

St. Beatus Caves
Discover stalactites and stalagmites in these fascinating and mysterious caves. A natural phenomenon for young and old alike. On a well-built and illuminated path, explore roughly one kilometre of the Niederhorn massif.
Ballenberg
Travel back in time…. Authentic historical buildings from across Switzerland, local farm animals, and traditional gardens are on display in this open-air museum. Enjoy demonstrations of traditional crafts.
Scherzligen Church
First mentioned in documents dating back to 762, this special church is located on the banks of the Aare approximately 10 minutes from the Thun railway station. Well worth your time for a visit.
Schadaupark-Thun Panorama
Right next to the Scherzligen Church is the beautiful Schadaupark. The Thun Panorama, the oldest surviving cyclorama in the world, is located in the park. Here you can admire this unique perspective of Thun by the artist, Marquard Wocher.
Panorama Bridge Sigriswil
Enjoy spectacular views of the Lake of Thun and the surrounding area from this suspension bridge, which connects the villages of Sigriswil and Aeschlen.
Dählhölzli Zoo Berne
The small idyllic zoo lies directly on the Aare and offers free access to a large part of the facility. This area can be explored with your dog – although leashes are recommended. Dogs are also welcome at the restaurant. Young and old alike will enjoy the free children’s zoo next to the playground. Lockable dog boxes are available for the section of the zoo which charges an entry fee.
